Our child hadn’t played cricket before but she was made to feel part of the team as soon as the first session started. Now she can’t wait for Friday nights!

Sandford St Martin Cricket Club is dedicated to the development of its junior cricketers and we welcome boys and girls of all abilities.  We run 12 Friday evening sessions starting at 18:30 and finishing at 19:30 for 5&6 year olds and 19:45 for all other age groups.

WHEN:  26 April–26 July, every Friday evening for 12 weeks (except 31st May because of half term and 21st June because of our Summer Ball)

TIME:  18:30–19:45

All our lead coaches are ECB qualified and there is a BBQ after every session serving quality burgers and sausage rolls.  The section is broken up by ability as much as age, the importance being that the children have fun and develop their cricket in an environment in which they feel comfortable.

Friday evening sessions will be structured as follows:

  • 5 year olds – Jon O'Neil
  • 6 & 7 year olds – Steven Dobson
  • 8, 9 & 10 year olds – Colin Simpson
  • 9, 10, 11, 12 girls - Laura Crofts
  • 10, 11, 12 year olds – Tom Goffe
  • 14 & 15 year olds – Greg Pearson

Registration & Fees

We will register all children on the first session on Friday 26 April. If you miss the first session, you can still register, just speak to a senior coach or the bar manager on the day.

Membership is £40 per child (£75 for two children). You can pay by cheque

(cheques made payable to Sandford St Martin Cricket Club) or by cash.

Dress

Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for exercise (trainers, a water bottle and a warm top for after-practice).  If sunny, we advise that your child wears a cap, and when the weather gets hotter that they wear sunscreen.

Medication

When registering, please inform the club if your child suffers from any serious medical conditions or allergies/reactions.  And please ensure that your child comes to training with their mediation such as inhalers.  All our lead coaches have First Aid Certificates and all coaches and assistant coaches hold a valid DBS certificate.

Performance Pathway

Please let one of our coaches know if you would like us to nominate your child for the County Development Squads that are run by the Oxfordshire Cricket Board. The philosophy behind the Performance Pathway is to make the link between Club and County Cricket stronger and more consistent.

Our children love it! The club is very welcoming and the coaches are great!
